Forward prospect Janne Kuokkanen, acquired in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes on Feb. 24, and defenseman prospect Ty Smith, the No. 18 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, should challenge for key roles.

The Canes have another week of training camp — Phase 3 of the NHL’s Return to Play plan — before leaving for Toronto to enter the protective “bubble” for Phase 4 and the postseason competition.

Nhl Team Face Masks

When the Quebec premier held his daily COVID-19 news conference at Place des Arts, he put on a bleu-blanc-rouge mask with the Canadiens logo on it that had been made by Longueuil company Image Folie.

Legault said the mask had been sent to him by Canadiens captain Shea Weber.

When NHL commissioner Gary Bettman decided to “pause” the NHL season on March 12 because of the coronavirus, the Canadiens had a 31-31-9 record with 11 games remaining and appeared certain to miss the playoffs for the third straight season and the fourth time in five years. Their final regular-season game was slated for April 4 in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.Chicago Blackhawks Team NHL Face Coverings

Another from the 1976 season, Ken Dryden’s face mask is perhaps one of the most recognizable in Canadiens history. Still in the early days of mask design, Dryden breaks the top three for being one of the earliest to incorporate team branding into his mask design.

Defensemen accounted for 16.8 percent of New Jersey's goals last season (31 of 185; 25th in the NHL), led by Damon Severson (eight). The hope is that P.K. Subban can return to form after the 31-year-old scored an NHL career-low 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 68 games last season, his 10th in the League. He averaged 45 points per season prior to 2019-20.St. Louis Blues Team NHL Face Coverings

It turns out the NHL actually had pre-recorded boos to play during his announcement, although they ultimately chose not to use them. And it’s a good thing they decided not to because Bettman and the entire NHL should be applauded for what they accomplished with the NHL’s Return to Play plan.Carolina Hurricanes Team NHL Face Coverings

Hockey Cage Pros
No Fogging Up or Scratching – Often considered the best available face protection, hockey cages remain a popular option because, unlike visors, they won’t scratch or fog up.
Stylish Cages – Cages come in several colors, enabling players to color-coordinate them with their uniforms. White remains one of the most popular colors because skaters tend to believe a white cage makes it easier for them to locate the black puck.
Hockey Cage Cons
One Cage Design Does Not Fit All – Some hockey cages are not as versatile as other forms of face protection because not all cages are compatible with all helmet brands.
Cages Can Be Cumbersome – While the protection is undeniable, some skaters have trouble seeing the puck clearly through the bars, and others find hockey cages heavy and cumbersome.
Cages Are Not That Comfortable – Some skaters don’t feel comfortable wearing a hockey cage, and others have difficulty snapping them into place while wearing hockey gloves.
The Full Shield/Hybrid Shield Facemask
A full/hybrid shield facemask offers skaters the combined protection advantages of the visor and cage.Montreal Canadiens Team NHL Face Coverings
